Bio

Silas Elliott is a visual and musical artist from Albany, NY. He studied digital media at Hudson Valley Community College where he earned an Associate of Science degree. Silas is currently expanding his portfolio doing work both for himself and for local bands and artists, creating engaging and interesting posters for shows, album covers, and clothing designs. He plans to continue in this direction, hoping to create a full campaign for his band’s upcoming project, while taking on work from other clients. Examples of Silas’s work include the posters for Fallen Youth’s show at No Fun in Troy NY, and the Guitar painted for the band Cloudhead, these being examples of how His visual art and musical careers fit together.

Artist Statement

I find that perception is the most interesting human experience. Especially how differently two people could perceive the same thing. Through my work, I aim to share my perceptions. I tend to prefer creating artwork in the digital realm but will not limit myself to that. The inspiration for my visual art often comes not from visual things but rather from music. Often, my pieces are my attempt to take an auditory sensation and turn it into a visual piece, an example of this being my piece simply titles “What” As for a piece's meaning, I prefer to leave my intentions to myself, so that the viewer can truly enjoy the piece to the fullest, by giving it their own meaning. “Scary Guy” Is an example of this.
